The Jury of the Czech-German BOO – Meet the Members

This year’s jury of the Czech-German BOO will include the Edior-In-Chief of Czech Television’s iVysílání VOD platform, the managing director of the German Short Film Association – AG Kurzfilm, the head of educational programmes at Germany’s largest documentary film festival, DOK.fest München, and a Czech filmmaker and university lecturer.

The jury members are:

Jana Cernik is, together with Jutta Wille, one of the managing directors of the German Short Film Association – AG Kurzfilm. Born in Slovakia, she grew up in Marocco and Hamburg. She graduated in applied cultural studies with a focus on film. She worked for the Kinemathek Hamburg and for several international film festivals. From 2002 until 2013 she established and directed the national promotional body Czech Film Center (CFC) on behalf of the Czech Audiovisual Producers Association. Since August 2013, she has been one of the managing directors of AG Kurzfilm responsible for areas such as film policy and advocacy.

Ivana Indra is the Editor-in-Chief of iVysílání, Czech Television’s online streaming platform, and a film professional specialising in documentary filmmaking, digital content and audience development. She has been working with the Academia Film Olomouc (AFO) festival for many years, where, as Head of Industry 4Science, she develops the international industry programme and leads the Camp 4Science workshop for emerging auteur science documentaries. Previously, she headed KineDok, an international distribution platform of the Institute of Documentary Film focused on finding new ways to bring documentary films to audiences. Her work lies at the intersection of development, curation and audiovisual content distribution, with a focus on innovative forms of distribution.

Michaela Režová is a filmmaker, director and university lecturer. She completed her Bachelor’s degree under the supervision of Jiří Barta at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), and in 2013 completed a residency at the prestigious French animation school La Poudrière Ecole du Film d'Animation. In 2025, she completed her doctoral studies and artistic research at UMPRUM on the topic Animated Landscapes of Memory – Memory and Authorial Approach in Animated Documentary. At UMPRUM, she co-leads the Animation and Film Studio and teaches courses in Animation Theory and Techniques and History of Animation. Her work focuses on the genre of animated documentary and its various forms. She is the founder of the platform f-a-t.cz, which, under the motto “From animators to animators”, shares content from the world of animated film.

Kathi Seemann is head of DOK.education, the educational programme of the german international documentary film festival DOK.fest München. She studied photography at the Escuela de Arte y Diseño Valencia and visual communication at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. Alongside her applied and artistic practice, she has worked for the Kassel Documentary Film Festival in the student section. Since 2020, she has been involved in the film education section and programme selection at DOK.fest München. Her focus is on extracurricular and inclusive film education programmes. With DOK.fest München she established a new Award for filmmakers with disabilities.
