BOO International Film Festival | 3–9 November 2025, Prague

Where will we meet this year?

9. 9. 2025

The main hub of the BOO Festival will be Kino Kavalírka – an intimate cinema with retro seats that carries the legacy of the former film studios in Košíře.

In addition, the festival will also take place at two major cultural institutions, which are co-organizers of the event and bring their own unique character to the program:

  • DOX Centre for Contemporary Art
  • MeetFactory

From 3–9 November, you’ll have the chance to discover short films not only through their stories, but also in the original venues that bring them to life.

Kino Kavalírka – the heart of the BOO Festival

Kino Kavalírka is a venue with a unique atmosphere and rich history. It first opened in the 1930s as Na Zámečnici cinema, operated until the early 1990s, and after thirty years of silence it was revived in 2021 by the Krutón association. Since 2022, Kavalírka has been running year-round and has become an important cultural hub in Košíře.

For the BOO Festival, Kavalírka will become the beating heart of the event – a place for the main screenings and industry program, where audiences, filmmakers and guests will meet. It will be a space for sharing experiences, engaging in discussions and discovering short films.

DOX – a space where film crosses its boundaries

In a former factory in Prague’s Holešovice, a unique cultural venue was established in 2008. Today, it offers exhibition halls, the multifunctional DOX+ hall, the Gulliver airship, as well as spaces dedicated to literature, theatre and music. DOX is a place where art, architecture, social issues and critical debate about the world around us intersect.

That’s why DOX will become one of the main stages of the BOO Festival. It will host the accompanying program that goes beyond the boundaries of film – from discussions and workshops to activities for children. BOO Festival aims not only to showcase films themselves, but also to explore the topics they address and open up new perspectives on the world.

MeetFactory – where culture comes alive

MeetFactory is an international centre for contemporary art founded in 2001 by artist David Černý. Since 2007 it has been based in an industrial building in Smíchov, located between a highway and a railway line. Over the years, it has become one of Prague’s most vibrant cultural hubs, where music, theatre, visual arts and artist-in-residence programs from all over the world come together.

For the BOO Festival, MeetFactory will be the place where culture truly comes alive – where audiences can enjoy side programs, live music and evening gatherings. It is a venue that naturally connects different art forms while offering the perfect backdrop for the festival’s community atmosphere.
