Come see short animated films that are given a whole new life thanks to live music! Musicians combine electronic and acoustic instruments, and their tones respond not only to what is happening on screen, but also to the mood in the hall. Children will discover that a film is not just images—music makes up almost half of the experience and can transform the same scene into something scary, funny, or magical. Together, we will discover how images and sounds turn into adventures.

Short Czech and German films in the programme:

My Happy End (dir. Milen Vitanov, 2007, 5 min, Germany)
The Little Cousteau (dir. Jakub Kouřil, 2014, 8 min, Czechia)
Toying with Strings 2 (dir. Ute Aurand & Detel Aurand, 2003, 8 min, Germany)
Virtuoso Virtual (dir. Thomas Stellmach & Maja Oschmann, 2013, 7 min, Germany)
When Cities Fly (dir. Khaled Mzher, 2017, 4 min, Germany)

Total duration is approximately 60 minutes.

Live music will be performed by musician and composer Petr Wajsar.

Petr Wajsar is a Czech composer who works across a wide range of genres. His work includes not only concert classical music, but also film and theater music. He has collaborated with leading Czech orchestras and institutions (Prague Spring, Czech Philharmonic, FOK, and many others). He is the winner of the 2019 Czech Lion Award for his music for the film Hastrman. He is the leader of the renowned vocal a cappella sextet Skety. In addition, he is a lover of electronic and improvised music, and today you can hear him in two projects: the duo Wayskal and Vejsar, in which he plays with his colleague Michal Vejsak, and in the expanded form of his project Develooper.

The programme is part of a Czech-German program supported by the Czech-German Fund for the Future.
