The BOO International Film Festival opens its doors to elementary and secondary schools and invites them to the Kino Kavalírka for exceptional film screenings!

You can look forward to a selection of contemporary short films from the most prestigious film festivals (Cannes, Venice, Locarno, Clermont-Ferrand, Berlinale, Sundance, Toronto, Oscar nominations) as well as short films by emerging talents.

School screenings at the BOO IFF are not just about watching films. The films are accompanied by film-educative discussions led by experienced lecturers, which are a great way to cultivate the principles of democratic and respectful discussion and address topics that are relevant to the individual age groups in primary and secondary schools.

Film-educative discussions help students process and “live through” film content, developing their creativity, critical thinking, and aesthetic sensibility. For younger children, they focus on perceiving the feelings and thoughts that the film evokes and reflecting on them. Older age groups learn to share their feelings and opinions, listen and express themselves on socially relevant (often controversial) topics with respect for themselves and others, analyze and reflect on film language and the content of audiovisual works, which are an everyday and often critically unreflected part of normal life.

We want film to be not just an experience, but also a challenge to reflect. Come with your class to discover the world of film in a different way – in a playful, full-hearted, and open-minded way.

You can attend the festival school screening from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We can adjust the length of the screening to your needs, from 60 to 90 minutes.
